The JLR PRO diagnostic interface is a J2534 pass-thru tool for Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. It connects the car's OBD2 socket to a Windows computer by USB and runs the manufacturer's own diagnostic software: SDD (Symptom Driven Diagnostics), IDS and WDS. This page shows which Jaguar and Land Rover models and model years it covers, which software version you need and what it does not cover.
Which software does the JLR PRO use?
Jaguar Land Rover has used several generations of dealer diagnostic software, and the right one depends on the model year of the car:
- WDS: the oldest system, used for vehicles from roughly 2000 and earlier.
- IDS: the successor to WDS, used from about 2005 and for many older Jaguar and Land Rover models.
- SDD v131: the last offline SDD release (2012). It does not need an online TOPIx account and is the one to use for cars up to 2012.
- SDD v168: a later SDD version for cars up to about 2017. Some functions, such as module programming, may require an online account unless you already have your own calibration files.
Supported vehicles
The JLR PRO is intended for Jaguar and Land Rover models up to around the 2016-2017 model year. The compatibility list below names each model and year range, with a note on the software version to use. Newer vehicles that use DoIP, supported by JLR through its Pathfinder and TOPIx Cloud system, are not covered by this interface.
Functions and limits
Typical functions in SDD and IDS include reading and clearing fault codes, live data, actuator tests, service functions and module programming where the software allows it. The exact set of functions depends on the vehicle and the software version, so check the compatibility table and the disclosure on this page before you buy. Not sure whether it fits your car? Supported Vehicles:
168V works with Jaguar, Land/Range Rover 2005 - 2017
131V - this version is the last one which doesn't require online account and you can use programming functions offline. It covers Jaguar 1996-2012 and Land Rovers 2005 - 2012.
131V works only on XP Pro but if you don't have this old system then we can send you preinstalled version on VMware. Let us know if you need 131V.

What this device covers
JLR is a Jaguar / Land Rover diagnostic and programming interface used with JLR dealer software: SDD (Symptom Driven Diagnostics) for cars from 2005 to 2017 (XJ up to 2019), and IDS / WDS for older Jaguars from 1995. Land Rover coverage starts in 2005.
Which software version you need
- Cars up to 2012: SDD v131. This is the last version that works fully offline, including module programming, with no JLR online account.
- Cars from 2013: SDD v168. Diagnostics, service resets and CCF configuration work without an account. Module programming, software updates and new-module setup officially need a JLR TOPIx programming subscription; owner forums report that they also work without an account when the calibration (VBF) and as-built files are stored locally. Key and security-module programming needs an online account plus Trust Center accreditation (or a purchased seed key).
- Jaguars before 2005: IDS (v118.5, v125.03 or v130-131 reported working on X300, X308, XK8, S-Type and X-Type).
Not covered
- Vehicles that use DoIP / Pathfinder: Range Rover L405, Range Rover Sport L494 and Discovery 5 from 2017, and every Jaguar and Land Rover from 2018 (Velar, E-Pace, I-Pace and others).
- Land Rover before 2005 (Defender Td5, Freelander 1, Discovery 1/2, Range Rover P38 and L322 2002-2005).
- Functions outside SDD/IDS: ADAS calibration, high-voltage battery diagnostics, oscilloscope, FCA AutoAuth.
Notes
Service functions (EPB, battery registration, DPF, air suspension and others) work only where the vehicle is equipped with them. The software version and online-account requirements come from JLR TOPIx and owner forums; there is no official JLR table of SDD v131 vs v168.
