Description

Vgate vLinker FS USB is a USB OBD-II adapter recommended by the FORScan team for Ford, Mazda, Lincoln and Mercury. Automatic electronic switching lets FORScan access all CAN buses (HS-CAN and MS-CAN) at the same time, without the manual toggle switch of older adapters, so advanced FORScan configuration and module programming functions are available. Supports the 18V FEPS programming voltage output in FORScan, up to 3 Mbps, OBD requests up to 4128 bytes and an 8 KB serial buffer. Works on 12V and 24V vehicles. USB 2.0 / 3.0, Windows 2000 / Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 (a USB driver is available from Vgate). BatterySaver automatic standby and start.

Functions depend on the app, e.g. reading/clearing codes, live data, module resets, and coding / configuration of hidden features in FORScan or BimmerCode. Over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature and battery-drain protection; firmware updates from Vgate.

The adapter only provides the vehicle connection; the diagnostic app is chosen by the user. Some apps (or their advanced functions) are paid and are not included. Coverage depends on the vehicle and the app.

Compatibility disclosure

Generic OBD2 functions on OBD2/EOBD-compliant cars and light vehicles using standard OBD-II protocols. Vgate states "all 1996 and newer" but gives no list of makes, models or model years; EU-market vehicles are entered from 2001 (petrol) and 2004 (diesel). Functions depend on the third-party app you choose (not included); paid apps and paid app functions are not included. Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda: full-module scan, manufacturer codes and configuration through the FORScan app (Android / Windows). Module programming in FORScan with 18 V FEPS programming voltage output. Vgate states 12 V / 24 V operation but lists no heavy-duty vehicles. The adapter itself does not provide manufacturer-specific diagnostics or service resets. Heavy-duty vehicles, motorcycles and OBD-I vehicles are not listed by Vgate.
