Description

Vgate iCar2 BLE is a small ELM327-compatible Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy OBD-II adapter for iPhone/iPad and Android. On iOS it is connected directly in the app (no pairing in the phone settings). It sleeps automatically about 30 minutes after communication stops; the iCar2 BLE needs a press of the power button to wake up. Firmware can be updated. Available in black and white.

Typical functions with an OBD-II app: read and clear generic and manufacturer-specific trouble codes, turn off the check engine light (MIL), live sensor data (RPM, speed, coolant temperature, engine load, fuel trims, MAP, throttle position, O2 sensors and more), fuel consumption, data logging and graphs.

The adapter only provides the vehicle connection; the diagnostic app is chosen by the user. Some apps (or their advanced functions) are paid and are not included. Coverage depends on the vehicle and the app.

Compatibility disclosure

Generic OBD2 functions on OBD2/EOBD-compliant cars and light vehicles using standard OBD-II protocols. Vgate states "all 1996 and newer" but gives no list of makes, models or model years; EU-market vehicles are entered from 2001 (petrol) and 2004 (diesel). Functions depend on the third-party app you choose (not included); paid apps and paid app functions are not included. The adapter itself does not provide manufacturer-specific diagnostics or service resets. Heavy-duty vehicles, motorcycles and OBD-I vehicles are not listed by Vgate.
