Vgate VS890 is a handheld OBD-II / EOBD code reader with a 3" colour TFT screen, built-in speaker and a one-click I/M readiness key with colour LEDs. It works on OBD-II / CAN vehicles from about 70 manufacturers (check that your vehicle uses a supported protocol). Functions: read and clear generic and manufacturer-specific codes (P, B, C, U), DTC library with explanations, freeze frame, live data (up to 161 items), I/M readiness, O2 sensor monitor test, on-board monitor test, component test, vehicle information (VIN), manual DTC lookup, reset MIL. Full mode $01-$09, SAE J1979 / ISO 15031. 13 menu languages. CE, FCC, RoHS. Note from Vgate: the PC software only supports Windows XP and the tool cannot be upgraded.

Compatibility disclosure

Code reader for OBD2/EOBD-compliant cars and light vehicles. Vgate states both "70 manufacturers" and "all 1996 and newer vehicles"; no list of makes or models is published, so all makes are entered from 1996 (EU-market makes from 2001). Generic OBD2 functions only: codes with DTC library, up to 161 data items, freeze frame, I/M readiness, O2 monitor, on-board monitor and component tests, vehicle information. No ABS, airbag, TPMS or service resets. PC software works on Windows XP only.
