VIN Reader/MODI is a plug-in OBD-II interface (dongle) from Abrites for reading a vehicle's VIN and mileage, checking stolen-vehicle databases and running diagnostics from a phone. It connects over Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 (range up to 60 m in open space) or Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and communicates with the vehicle over CAN and K-Line. It works with two apps: the free VIN Reader app (no license needed) and the MODI Mobile Diagnostics app (one year of subscription included), which offers module scans, reading and clearing trouble codes, live data, health reports and, in Advanced mode, coding and actuator tests. Compatible with nearly all vehicle brands on the market. The app's availability in app stores is limited to a list of countries. Also part of the Abrites Vehicle Inspection Kit. Note: OEM software and licences are not included.

Abrites VIN Reader / MODI is a Bluetooth OBD2 interface for the MODI mobile app (iOS/Android). The VIN Reader app is free; brand diagnostics and coding need a MODI subscription (1 year included, then paid yearly). Generic OBD2 works without subscription. Brands are those listed on modiobd.com; models, years and the exact function list per brand are not published. Coverage is entered at brand level; model lists are not published by Abrites. Years are given only where Abrites states them. Many functions need an active Abrites Annual Maintenance Subscription (AMS) and separately sold brand licenses. Please check your VIN with the manufacturer before purchase.
